Dear Colleagues:
The Society for History in the Federal Government (SHFG) would like to formally invite graduate students to attend a Federal History Jobs Workshop as part of our 2019 Annual Meeting, held April 25 to 26, 2019, at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) building in Washington, D.C. The workshop is from 9am to noon on Thursday, April 25. The Federal History Jobs Workshop is designed to provide information and resources for individuals seeking employment in history-related fields in the federal government. Representatives from a variety of historical offices will discuss their unique career paths and answer questions about securing a federal job including guiding attendees through the USAJOBS system and the process of applying for positions.
In the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to attend a variety of relevant panels including:
Internships in Federal History Programs: Different Perspectives

Anna Torres, Public Affairs Specialist, Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, "Using Public History Training in Science Communication"
Alexandra Kolleda, Archivist, U.S. Army Women's Museum, "Public History and its Relevance to the United States Army"
Matthew Wong, U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, "Public History at the United States Capitol"
We will also have a networking happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 pm (Location TBD; cash bar)
