Dear History MA and PhD Students,
Some of you may be interested in attending a session of the Cultural
Studies doctoral colloquium on Thursday, November 19, 4:30-7:10 in
Mason Hall D3. Titled "The Un-Disciplined Past: History and Cultural
Studies," the session will be devoted to remarks by three cultural
historians who have been influential in shaping the relationship
between cultural history and Cultural Studies in the United States:
Anna Clark, University of Minnesota, author of Desire: A History of
Sexuality in Europe from the Greeks to the Present; Geoff Eley,
University of Michigan, author of A Crooked Line: From Cultural
History to the History of Society; and our former colleague Jeffrey
Stewart, now at the University of California-Santa Barbara, author of
Paul Robeson: Artist and Citizen. See the enclosed flyer for more
details.
