Dear all,

I am currently putting together the schedule for the Modern History Workshop for the fall and am hoping that some PhD students might be interested in presenting their work. It is a great opportunity to get comments on a draft from a variety of people in the department, which is always very helpful as you work out how to revise and move forward with a piece of work. And it is also a terrific chance to practice discussing your work, and fielding questions from other scholars, in a friendly environment. We’ve had several PhD students present work in the past, and they have all found the experience enjoyable and helpful. So if you have a draft of a dissertation chapter, or would like an arbitrary deadline to force yourself to finish a draft of a dissertation chapter, please let me know by May 10 – we can then work to schedule the session at a good time for you in the fall.

All best,

Sam
