Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System with a Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania, a Locust Grove Campus, and several off-campus centers. Job Description: Germanna Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as an Instructor/Assistant Professor of History. The successful candidate will teach all levels of general history. The successful candidate will teach both day and evening courses at any college location teaching a minimum of 30 credits per year (fall/spring) five courses each semester.

The College desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and integration of global perspectives in instruction. Finalists will be invited to present a short sample lesson.

This is a full-time nine-month faculty position. Salary is commensurate with rank and credentials plus State benefits. Appointment date: August 16, 2019. Position will be filled contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's degree in history or master's degree in a related field and a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in history from an accredited institution
* College-level teaching experience
* Ability to teach across all disciplines in history with preference given for graduate course work in Western Civilization and World History

Preferred Qualifications

* Ph.D in history
* Strength in Western Civilization/World History
* Experience with curriculum development, assessment, use of instructional technology, certified for online instruction
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Community college teaching experience
* Demonstrated student learning and student success in history courses taught
