Subject: Invitation to Attend April 19th Symposium on Eradicating the Opioid Epidemic
Dear CHSS colleagues,
We are writing to invite you, your faculty colleagues and research-engaged graduate and undergraduate students to register to participate in the morning session of a Mason Symposium convened to identify partnership-enabled, transdisciplinary research strategies to eradicate the opioid epidemic. The Symposium will take place on April 19th in Dewberry Hall, and will begin at 8 a.m.
Please do forward this invitation to your faculty colleagues, and to research-engaged graduate and undergraduate students. Consistent with the trans-disciplinary nature of this epidemic, we are encouraging faculty involvement across our academic disciplines and especially in CHSS disciplines and programs. This symposium will provide a framework for responding to future research and scholarship opportunities, including those requiring the collective efforts of faculty in preparing future proposals.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam and Mason Provost S. David Wu will open the event, and the agenda will include remarks by distinguished panelists from a number of our partner organizations, including federal, state and local entities. The draft agenda is attached.
Because attendance is constrained by venue size, interested Mason faculty, administrators and students must register to attend by April 9th, at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/symposium-on-eradicating-the-opioid-crisis-in-northern-virginia-tickets-44537091640<https://www.eventbrite.com/e/symposium-on-eradicating-the-opioid-crisis-in-northern-virginia-tickets-44537091640?aff=utm_source%3Deb_email%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_campaign%3Dnew_event_email&utm_term=eventurl_text>.
We do encourage you, your faculty colleagues and relevant students to register to attend, and look forward to seeing you in Dewberry Hall on April 19th!
