American Historical Association (AHA) - Research Grants
Deadline(s): 2/15/2016

AHA awards several research grants with the aim of advancing the study of history in a diverse number of subject areas. Grants may be used for travel to a library or archive, microfilming, photography, photocopying, borrowing or access fees, or other needs associated with the project.

Four grants are offered:

  *   Albert J. Beveridge Grant supports research in the history of the United States, Canada, and Latin America.  Award amount: Up to $1,000.
  *   Michael Kraus Research Grant supports research in colonial American history, with particular reference to the intercultural aspects of American and European relations. Award amount: Up to $800.
  *   Littleton-Griswold Grant supports research in US legal history and in the general field of law and society, broadly defined. Award amount: Up to $1,000.
  *   Bernadotte E. Schmitt Grant supports research in the history of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Award amount: Up to $1,000.

Eligibility:

  *   Applicants must be AHA members.
  *   Preference will be given to advanced doctoral students, nontenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars.
  *   Preference will be given to those with specific research needs such as the completion of a project or discrete segment thereof.
  *   Within a five-year period, no individual is eligible to receive more than a combined total of $1,000 from all AHA research grants.
