FAST TRAIN students,
With fall semester right around the corner, I wanted to pass along some information for those of you who are planning to student teach in the Spring of 2015. I have attached the student teaching applications for both the ESOL and the Elementary programs. In order to be considered for a spring student teaching placement, you must submit a student teaching application, along with two letters of recommendation and a curriculum vitae, to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> no later than September 15th. This deadline is firm and late applications will not be considered.
In order to be eligible for student teaching in Spring 2015, all licensure coursework must be complete with passing grades in the Mason system by the end of the fall semester. This means that students who took courses in summer session II and summer session III must request permission from their professors to have their PBAs and fieldwork logs turned in and graded early in order to have their grades posted to their transcript at the end of the fall semester. If this applies to you, please request permission to have your assignments turned in and graded early well in advance of grades being due in order to allow professors adequate time. In addition to being complete with licensure coursework, students must also have completed and passed all licensure tests prior to the application deadline of September 15th. All endorsement coursework must also be completed with passing grades in the Mason system by this date as well. Please visit the following link for program-specific information on student teaching requirements http://fasttrain.gmu.edu/licensure/requirements .
You can also visit the FAST TRAIN website for more information on student teaching at http://fasttrain.gmu.edu/licensure/student-teaching. The Student Teaching Manual is available at http://fasttrain.gmu.edu/assets/docs/fast_train/Student_Teaching_Manual.pdf and provides specific information about the student teaching process. If you have questions regarding the application process for student teaching, or anything else, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Jill Macioch
