The Parallel computing and Optimisation Group (PCOG) is led by Prof.
Pascal Bouvry and Dr. Grégoire Danoy as deputy head. PCOG conducts
research on parallel computing and optimization techniques, in
particular how different species may co-evolve taking local decisions
while ensuring global objectives, to tackle large and difficult
problems. The main application domains are security, trust and
reliability; reliable scheduling and routing on new generations of
networks; sustainable development and systems biomedicine; Unmanned

Your Role
This is a fully funded position for 3 years (extendable to an
additional 4th year) within the joint Research/Teaching programme
between the Luxembourg Institute of Standardisation, Accreditation,
Safety and Quality of Products and Services (ILNAS) and the University
of Luxembourg, that aims at creating an innovative environment for
smart-ICT and the related standardization efforts. Three smart-ICT
targets have been identified as Trustworthy ICT, Aerospace, and
Construction.
The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research
team led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry in order to carry out research to
pursue a PhD on the Aerospace topic.

EvoApplications, the International Conference on the Applications of

Evolutionary Machine Learning in a joint event collectively known as

EvoMUSART is a multidisciplinary conference that brings together
researchers who are working on the application of Artificial Neural
Networks, Evolutionary Computation, Swarm Intelligence, Cellular
Automata, Alife, and other Artificial Intelligence techniques in
creative and artist fields such as Visual Art, Music, Architecture,
Video, Digital Games, Poetry, or Design. This conference gives
researchers in the field the opportunity to promote, present and
discuss ongoing work in the area.
Submissions must be at most 16 pages long, in Springer LNCS format.
Each submission must be anonymised for a double-blind review process.
Accepted papers will be presented orally or as posters at the event
and included in the EvoMUSART proceedings published by Springer Nature
in a dedicated volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
Indicative topics include but are not limited to:
* Systems that create drawings, images, animations, sculptures,
poetry, text, designs, webpages, buildings, etc.;
* Systems that create musical pieces, sounds, instruments, voices,

The aim of this special issue is to encourage research that analyses
the topic of reproducibility in EC and showcase excellent examples of
both reproducible research and reproducibility studies. Within the
context of EC, we include non-evolutionary metaheuristics, swarm
intelligence methods, stochastic local search, and hybrids with exact
methods, i.e., matheuristics. We welcome papers that deal with the
topic of reproducibility with a specific focus on the EC context,
either by analysing the current state of the field or providing
evidence that supports best practices for authors, journals or funding
bodies. Furthermore, we also welcome papers that, in addition to an
original research contribution to the field of EC, go well above the
current standards of reproducibility. Finally, we also welcome
high-quality reproducibility studies that attempt to reproduce (by

(by reimplementing the materials from scratch) previously published
results of interest.
