hermeneutics.
Nowadays, the total amount of data available increase in an
exponential manner. The number of document formats used to perform
research also exploded to include classical one such as books, photos,
videos, sounds, or non conventional formats such as participative
writing platforms, text blogs, websites or ephemeral data. The purpose
of Digital History is to handle these various sources of information
to perform research and analysis.
The work is related to big data analytics, graph traversals and
clustering problems. The candidate is expected to have a strong
background in combinatorial optimisation, graph theory and good
programming skills (Python, Java or C++).
Funding is available for 3 years.
The student will work within an interdisciplinary environment
(Computer Scientists, Historians, etc) in a group (13 positions are
available in the different useful fields).

LION deals with designing and engineering ways of "learning" about the
performance of different techniques, and ways of using past experience

Intelligent learning schemes for mining the knowledge obtained online
or offline can improve the algorithm design process and simplify the
applications of high-performance optimization methods. Combinations of
different algorithms can further improve the robustness and
performance of the individual components.
This meeting, which continues the successful LION series, explores the
intersections and uncharted territories between machine learning,
artificial intelligence, mathematical programming and algorithms for
hard optimization problems. Russia has a long tradition in
optimization theory, computational mathematics and "intelligent
learning techniques" (in particular cybernetics and statistics). The
location of LION11 in Nizhny is an occasion to meet researchers and

PDCO 2017, Orlando USA, is the result of the merge of the seventh
Parallel Computing and Optimization (PCO) and the twentieth Nature
Inspired Distributed Computing (NIDISC) workshops that have been held
in conjunction with the IEEE International Parallel and Distributed
Processing Symposium for the past years.
Scope:
======
The IEEE Workshop on Parallel / Distributed Computing and Optimization
aims at providing a forum for scientific researchers and engineers on
recent advances in the field of parallel or distributed computing for
difficult optimization problems, ranging from theoretical to applied
problems.
The latter include 0-1 multidimensional knapsack problems and cutting
stock problems, large scale linear programming problems, nonlinear
optimization problems and global optimization problems. Emphasis will
be placed on new techniques for solving these difficult problems, like
cooperative methods for integer programming problems, nature-inspired
techniques and hybrid methods. Aspects related to Combinatorial
Scientific Computing (CSC) will also be treated. We also solicit
submissions of original manuscripts on sparse matrix computations and
related topics (including graph algorithms); and related methods and
tools for their efficiency on different parallel systems. The use of
new approaches in parallel and distributed computing like GPU, MIC,
cloud computing, volunteer computing will be considered. Applications
combining traditional parallel and distributed computing and
optimization techniques as well as theoretical issues (convergence,
complexity, etc.) are welcome. Application domains of interest include
(but are not limited to) cloud computing, planning, logistics,
manufacturing, finance, telecommunications and computational biology.

Aim and Scope
In the nature there are many examples that could help humanity to develop
new projects, to improve and to solve some real life complex problems. The
Bio-inspired Fuzzy Systems have the ability to include both natural
computing and real life coefficients of uncertainty to keep in balance the
solutions of the large-scale static and dynamic problems. The strategies of
natural organisms (as ants, bees, nano-bots, swarms, flocks etc.) include
adaptation and learning based on environmental changes, incomplete input
information and the presence of noise. That is why Artificial Intelligence
uses bio-inspired techniques, like ant colonies, artificial immune systems,
swarm intelligence, neural networks, evolutionary computation, and not at
last fuzzy logic to solve difficult problems.

The International Conference on Machine Learning solicits proposals
for workshops to be held in conjunction with the ICML 2017 conference
in Sydney. The workshops will be held on Aug 10 - 11, 2017.
An official Call for Workshop Proposals will be announced. This is a
tentative call, timed to be distributed at NIPS 2016 to instigate
discussions on potential workshop topics to be proposed later.
ICML workshops are great opportunity for exciting and focused
scientific exchange on emerging and futuristic research topics. We
welcome proposals for both one full-day or two-day workshops. We also
especially encourage workshops that are coordinated with ICML 2017
tutorials such that both background and state-of-the-art research
naturally flow through the ICML conference period.

Computational Audio Processing techniques have been largely addressed
by scientists and technicians in diverse application areas, like
entertainment, human-machine interfaces, security, forensics, and
health. Developed services in these fields are characterised by a
progressive increase of complexity, interactivity and intelligence,
and the employment of Computational Intelligence techniques allowed to
achieve a remarkable degree of automation with excellent performance.
In the last few years, a new emerging computational intelligence
paradigm has become popular among scientists working in the field and
across all a large variety of research areas. It is named end-to-end
learning and consists in omitting any hand-crafted intermediary
algorithms in the solution of a given problem and directly learning
all needed information from the sampled dataset. This means that
features used as input of the parametric system to train (like a
Neural Network) are not selected by humans, but they are determined by
the system itself during the learning process.
It is indeed of great interest for the scientific community to
understand how and to what extent novel Computational Intelligence
techniques based on the emerging end-to-end learning paradigm can be
efficiently employed in Digital Audio, in the light of all
aforementioned aspects. In line with the mission of the IEEE CIS Task
Force in Computational Audio
Processing(http://ieeeciscap.dii.univpm.it/) the organisers of this
Special Issue want to bring the focus on the most recent advancements
in the Computational Intelligence field and on their applicability to
Digital Audio problems from the end-to-end learning perspective.

between network science and computational intelligence (NSCI), which
has triggered a series of new ideas and methods and has drawn special
attention from diverse communities. We are soliciting papers that
present the latest advances in this interdisciplinary field from two
aspects: (1) using network science to analyze and improve the
performance of computational intelligence algorithms; (2) using
computational intelligence to solve real-world problems of network
systems. Researchers with different backgrounds are invited to report
their most recent progresses, and papers for this Special Issue must
make significant new contributions to the existing literature.

Submission Guidelines

All submitted papers should be in English and each paper should not be
more than 8 pages. Submitted papers should also be formatted according
to the IJCIS journal style. For more detailed information concerning

Publishing and Fees
The accepted papers will appear in the IJCIS as a Special Issue to be
published as an e-supplement to the journal. The Special Issue is to
be published in volume 10 of IJCIS (2017). The final and accepted
papers should be with the Publisher by 4nd quarter 2017. Papers will
be published as Open Access articles so that they are immediately
available for free for any interested reader. For having an article
published as an Open Access article, a processing fee is required. A
number of papers highly recommended by the guest editors will be
