1. Career Options for Humanities, Social Sciences & Liberal Arts Majors

Many liberal arts students find themselves uncertain about what they have to
offer and how to present their strengths to potential employers. Join us for
a discussion with Mason alumni to learn from their experiences what makes
your major appealing to many employers. Specifically, you will learn:

• Common myths and realities associated with liberal arts/humanities majors
• How to identify skills, experiences and personal qualities of interest to
employers

5. Ask the Professionals ISOM Career Panel

This panel presentation is filled with alumni and employers who hold
positions in Information Systems and Operations Management and come from a
variety of industries and organizations. Students are given the opportunity
to ask questions about academics, career choice, job search and current
market trends and to network with the panelists. View an employer list and

6. British Council Education Intern
The British Council, the UK's cultural relations and education organization,
seeks an intern to support our Education Team. The paid, 20-hour a week
position will start in the beginning of April and continue through the end
of August at least. The deadline to apply for this position is Friday, April 2.

Job Responsibilities
• Development and management of databases consisting of key stakeholders
within the international higher education industry
• Responding to and researching client requests for information and market
intelligence
• Monitoring developments in the international higher education industry
• Creation of PowerPoint presentations and information briefs for
stakeholder audiences at conferences
• Contributing to online communications in the form of e-newsletters,
website and social networking sites

Qualifications and Application Criteria
• Academic or professional interest/ experience in international education,
international cultural relations
• Interest in international affairs and the US/UK strategic relationship
with emphasis on higher education
• Strong writing and editing skills and be able to write in a concise,
non-academic style
• Ability to work in a small and fast-paced team
• Potential of operating with professional confidence at high profile events
and with senior level contacts
• Working knowledge of social media, internet research and Microsoft Office,
specifically Excel and PowerPoint

Experience of studying or living abroad, preferably the UK
• A full-time university junior, senior, graduate student or recent graduate
• Enrolled and in good academic standing at an accredited college or university
•Able to commit to working 20 hours per week through the end of
August/beginning of September
•Legally permitted to work in the United States - we are not able to sponsor
applicants for visas

7. Personal Statement Workshop
Wednesday, March 24
7 - 9 p.m.
SUB II, Ballroom 1 Front

Join Judy Adkins, the Personal Statement Specialist for Mason's Office of
Postgraduate Fellowships and Scholarships and the Writing Center, for a
Personal Statement Workshop. The first hour will focus on the basics of
writing essays for graduate and professional school applications. The second
hour will consist of a free-writing exercise to help participants generate
material for a personal statement. The event is free and open to all Mason
students and alumni.
