Hello, BIS. Have you met OSCAR
<http://oscar.gmu.edu/fac-staff/upload/What-is-OSCAR-Faculty.pdf>?

The Office of Student Scholarship Creative Activities and Research
(OSCAR) is the home of Students as Scholars
(http://oscar.gmu.edu/students/) and the Undergraduate Research Scholars
Program (URSP) (http://oscar.gmu.edu/students/ursp.cfm).

Several BIS students have been awarded research stipends in recent
semesters, and currently one of our students is "Examining the effect of
infographics on the confirmation bias," for a third funded project!
In Summer 2012 two BIS students received research stipends, and in
Spring 2012 two BIS students received research stipends. We are
continuing a tradition of scholarly excellence!

*The Undergraduate Research Scholars program welcomes proposals for the
summer semester of 2013.*

There are two options available for summer.

Traditional ($1500 budgeted award, 144 total hours, flexible timing)

Intensive ($5000 budgeted award , 9 weeks/360 hours, usually June 1-
August 9)

The deadline for both options is February 22, 2013. Further details and
REVISED application forms can be found here:
http://oscar.gmu.edu/students/ursp.cfm

...And to help you with that process, they are also offering Proposal
Writing Workshops:

        *Proposal Writing Workshops
        *

Wonder how to write a successful proposal for URSP? Come to one of
these workshops to learn the details.

  *

              Workshop 1: February 8, 2013, 1-2pm, University Hall 3300

  *

              Workshop 2: March 20, 2013, 10-11am, University Hall 3300

  *

              Workshop 3: April 2, 2013, 6-7pm, Johnson Center Room B

This program runs every semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) offering
students stipends from $1500 to $5000. It is well worth your time to
attend the session if you can answer yes to the following...
*"**Want $5000 to answer an unanswered question?"
*

BIS can help you with this process. Let me know if you need additional
assistance, have questions, or are just considering the possibility of
proposing a project to the URSP.

Good luck,
Lenore
