Snow Days: Class Make-Up Information
Due to the university closures, the final exam schedule has changed. There will be no scheduled Reading Day for the spring semester. please refer to the Spring 2016 Academic Calendar<http://registrar.gmu.edu/calendars/spring-2016/> to review all changes.
Instructors will arrange make ups on an ad hoc basis in order to compensate for classes canceled on Thursday, January 21 before 10:30 a.m, Friday, January 22, and Saturday, January 23.
For classes canceled on Monday, January 25, the make-up day is Wednesday, May 4.
For classes canceled on Tuesday, January 26, the make-up day is Tuesday, May 3.

The New Fenwick Library is upon us! We are proud to present our new library to George Mason University. Our newly-expanded building has a great deal to offer our Students, our Faculty, and fellow Staff members. Nearly everything in Fenwick Library has moved (with the exception of a few of our atlas cases). With such a monumental shift in our services, our staff, and our collections, we invite any and all to come to experience our new space. Please stop by at any of the listed times to see just what has changed, and what we can offer our community with the New Fenwick Library. Get your resume critiqued & practice your interviewing skills with area employers visiting campus! Meet one-on-one with an employer for 30 minutes (between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.) for constructive feedback and tips on how to improve and perfect your resume and interviewing skills. These unique artists perform in complete silence on a blackened stage with common household objects and simple forms to create ingenious illusions and amusing narratives that provide light-hearted insights on life. Mummenschanz, originally conceived as a new form of theatrical non-verbal expression, enjoyed an unprecedented three-year run on Broadway in the 70s. Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra

This distinguished ensemble from the historic port city of Gdańsk on the coast of the Baltic Sea brings a splendid evening of classical music favorites. Founded in 1945, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra has flourished over the decades, despite this tumultuous period in Poland’s history. The orchestra thrives today, representing the lofty passions that witnessed tragedy and drove revolutions, while still capturing the proud stoicism of contemporary Poland and the Baltic Sea coast. Under the baton of celebrated Polish conductor Boguslaw Dawidow, this exceptional ensemble performs three masterful nineteenth century works full of Romantic passion and drama.

SAVE THE DATE: Security Symposium - Feb. 12
On Friday, Feb. 12 George Mason University will host the 2nd Provost’s Multidisciplinary Research Symposium at the Mason Global Center.
This one-day symposium will be broadly organized around the topic of Security and is open to all interested researchers—Mason faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to participate.
The purpose of the Symposium is to develop areas of security research at Mason that address socially significant challenges by engaging different disciplines (that do not always have the opportunity to interact) in a way that will allow the sharing of complementary perspectives. All aspects of security will be considered, such as food supply and water security; climate change, natural disasters, and environmental security; security issues related to diseases and pandemics; infrastructure security; cybersecurity; human security including refugees, human trafficking and crime; homeland security including WMD; and others.
The Security Symposium will include keynote presentations, expert panels, and break-out discussions. Researchers are invited to give short “lightning round” presentations or to participate in poster sessions. As with the inaugural symposium on Health, this symposium on Security will be followed by an internal seed grant competition funded by the Office of the Provost.
