The Department of Molecular and Microbiology Presents a Seminar by Bobby Moss, Bio-Rad titled: "Real-Time PCR Optimization and Validation"

Abstract: Real-time qPCR continues to grow as the technique of choice for researchers interested in determining the expression profile of a subset of genes at the nucleic acid level. Along with this increasing level of acceptance comes a higher degree of scrutiny of the data sets generated using this technique. Whether it be singleplex reactions
utilizing SYBR Green or higher level multi-plex reactions using some alternative chemistry, the fundamental criteria for how well a given reaction performs does not change. PCR efficiency, primer specificity and reproducibility as well as assay dynamic range are all important components that affect how well an assay performs, and ultimately how robust the data set generated is.
