Dear Students,
The Spring 2016 schedule is available for viewing now on Patriot Web, if you will take a look to plan your spring registration. Registration begins on November 3!
Courses from outside of BIOL that can be used for electives include Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (BINF), Neuroscience (NEUR), plus any of the tech courses involving Bioinformatics that include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computational & Data Sciences - any numbered 500 and above. Let Dr. Baranova know if you would like to register for a course outside of BIOL so that she can give permission.
Note that BIOL 678 "Cell-Based Assays" lab course will count towards the Molecular Techniques requirement in the Molecular concentration, and will substitute for BIOL 718 "Techniques" for the Micro & Infectious Diseases concentration. BIOL 678 is 2 credits and you will make up the 1 credit elsewhere.
If you plan on directed study credits to work with a professor on a technique or on your thesis / project proposal, fill out the form found on http://ssb.gmu.edu/students/index.cfm under "Master's students". It will need the instructor's signature. Send the form to me ASAP.
Thesis or project registration first requires the Committee Formation form, and then the signed Proposal Approval form with a copy of the proposal (forms are on the website noted above).
Thank you,
Diane St. Germain
