Worried about Lyme Disease? Nanotechnology: A Novel Approach to Conquering Lyme Disease

Presented By: Dr. Alessandra Luchini, Associate Professor, Center for Applied Proteomics and Molecular Medicine, George Mason University
Opening Remarks By: Allie Cashel, Author of Suffering the Silence: Chronic Lyme Disease in an Age of Denial
The fight against Lyme disease is severely hindered by the poor quality of existing diagnostic tests. Patients with a missed diagnosis harbor Lyme bacteria, which can invade their brain, heart, joints and other tissues. Learn how nanotechnology was used to develop a new highly specific and sensitive urine test for Lyme Disease that can be used for diagnosis. Also hear about ongoing efforts to develop novel tests for other tick borne diseases.
